At first sight, GoodShort and DramaWave look like siblings. Both stream vertical, phone-first dramas in short episodes, both offer weekly VIP passes, and both have climbed into the tens of millions of installs. Beneath the surface, however, the two are placing very different bets about what viewers want in 2026. GoodShort leans on revenge, romance and family sagas with named casts, whereas DramaWave is betting heavily on AI-generated content at huge scale. This review puts the verified facts side by side. The fun part comes next, with a little myth-busting about search terms that send people astray. Spoiler: no DreamWave exists, and GoldShort is ai fruit love island english not the app you probably have in mind.

GoodShort went live on June 12, 2023, according to both its App Store and Google Play listings. The App Store seller is Singapore New Reading Technology Pte. Ltd., and on Google Play the developer shows up under the name GoodNovel. According to Baidu’s wiki, a less reliable source, the parent company is Beijing New Reading Times, which also makes the GoodNovel reading app. More than 50 million installs appear on the Google Play listing. GoodShort’s market share is roughly 6%, by the estimate of Media Partners Asia. That makes it a respectable mid-tier player, not one of the giants. Anyone searching “good short app” or plain “goodshort” should be looking for exactly this listing and seller name.

Revenge, regret and complicated families power the catalog. In Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter (64 episodes), Natalie is ousted when Monica is revealed as the true Parson heiress, and she is framed for her grandmother’s murder. In Kidnapped by the Mafia (86 episodes), Violet is sold by her boyfriend to mafia king Vincenzo as a contract bride, and assassins attack at their wedding. Heiress Karina is at the center of Three Strikes, Dad’s Out (65 episodes), where her secret husband William neglects his own child when the woman he still loves returns with a son. He Took a Mistress I Took the Sky (62 episodes) is a Korean rebirth drama where Ji-young dies in a plane crash, wakes up before the tragedy and reclaims the pilot dream she abandoned for her cheating husband. That last series premiered on March 27, 2026, and it originally carried the Korean title “Fly Again”. This lineup delivers if what you truly want from “good short movies” is a story told in bite-sized cliffhangers.

In the US App Store as of September 2026, a GoodShort Weekly VIP pass costs from roughly $5.99 to $19.99, and coin packs run around $4.99 to $24.99 for 500 to 2,500 coins. Prices differ by country, platform and promotion, so what you see in your own store may differ. The weekly pass auto-renews. Removing the app does not cancel it, so cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings instead. Combining heiress revenge and mafia romance with a Korean rebirth drama in one place, the catalog itself is the standout perk. Paywalls tend to land right at the cliffhanger and weekly passes add up quickly, and that is the industry-wide caveat and the main one here. Skip any site promising “unlimited coins” or a modded APK, since those are unofficial and not worth the risk to your account or device.

The publisher of DramaWave is Skywork AI Pte. Ltd., a unit of Kunlun Tech’s Skywork and Tiangong AI business. The app launched in September 2024, per Google Play on September 12 and per the App Store on September 23. DramaWave displays more than 100 million installs on Google Play. By March 2025 it was reportedly operating at around $120 million in annualized revenue with more than 10 million monthly users. Annualized revenue had reportedly exceeded $700 million by Q2 2026, while Media Partners Asia puts its market share at about 13%. That counts as a very steep climb for an app scarcely two years old.

DramaWave claims a library of more than 30,000 dramas in 18 languages, though that is the app’s own figure, not an independent count. The bigger story is how much of that library is made with AI. More than 80% of newly released content on DramaWave is AI-generated, according to a report on its 2026 performance. It is a striking number, and it helps explain how a young app can put out new titles so fast. For some viewers, the appeal is a steady stream of fresh stories. For others it is a dealbreaker, since AI-generated drama can feel quite different from a cast of human actors. You will quickly know which camp you are in if you sample a few episodes before paying for anything.

As of September 2026, the US App Store lists DramaWave’s Weekly VIP at about $7.99 to $19.99 and a Monthly VIP at roughly $36.99. Prices, as always, vary by country, platform and promotion. The monthly tier is a genuine plus, since it gives committed viewers an alternative to a pass that renews every seven days. Also on the app’s list are offline downloads, on-screen comments and 1080p video. The standout for anyone who watches on planes or subways is offline downloads. Passes auto-renew and deleting the app does not cancel anything, so the caveats mirror GoodShort’s. The heavy reliance on AI-generated content is the other trade-off to consider.

Set the two apps side by side and the differences get sharper. GoodShort is older, having launched in June 2023, and smaller by installs. DramaWave is younger, having launched in September 2024, yet it already sits in a higher Google Play install tier and has more than double GoodShort’s estimated market share. GoodShort’s weekly pass begins slightly lower, whereas DramaWave offers a monthly option. Its new releases rely heavily on AI, even though DramaWave’s feature list is longer on paper. The verified facts are summed up in the table, with US App Store prices as of September 2026.

GoodShort: The Review

Take dreamwave first. People enter “dreamwave” or “dream wave” all the time, yet no real app called DreamWave showed up in store searches, which is why those searches almost always mean DramaWave. Before installing anything named DreamWave, verify the publisher and look for Skywork AI. The next confusion is trickier. Searching “goldshort” does surface a real app, GoldShort TV from Goldbrid LLC, but it is a small Android TV app with more than 10,000 installs that was last updated in September 2025.

GoldShort TV has nothing to do with GoodShort, and most likely the search term is, more often than not, a misspelling of GoodShort. Bigger still is the good short family of searches. “Good short”, “good shorts”, “good shot”, “good short movie”, “good short movies”, “short good movies” and even “good shorter movies” usually all lead back to GoodShort. That final cluster calls for one honest caveat. GoodShort offers serialized dramas in short episodes, not stand-alone short films, so if you want a single self-contained film, look somewhere else. If you want cliffhangers between meetings, you have come to the right place.

Who Should Pick Which

DramaWave is the pick if you want sheer volume, offline downloads for travel, 1080p video and a monthly plan rather than a weekly one. A catalog in which most new releases are AI-generated should also be something you are comfortable with. Pick GoodShort if heiress revenge, mafia contract marriages and neglectful husbands running out of chances are what your taste runs to. Its titles feature named casts, with several of them listed on IMDb. On top of that, the marginally lower weekly entry price is a small bonus. Whichever one you pick, set a reminder before any pass renews and cancel through your store settings if you are done. Coin generators and modded APKs promising free unlocks are not real, official products, although both apps are, so steer clear of them.

Two Apps Making Two Different Bets At first sight, GoodShort and DramaWave look like siblings.
